KYC and Verification

Why We Verify Your Identity

At Dragonia, maintaining a secure and trustworthy environment for all our players is paramount. Verifying your identity is a fundamental step in achieving this. It allows us to comply with stringent regulatory requirements, prevent fraud, combat money laundering, and ensure that our services are used responsibly and legally. This process protects both you, our valued player, and the integrity of our platform. We are committed to transparency and will guide you through each stage of our verification procedures.

What KYC (Know Your Customer) Means

KYC, or Know Your Customer, is a regulatory requirement that mandates financial institutions and online gambling operators like Dragonia to verify the identity of their customers. This involves collecting and assessing specific personal information and documentation. The goal of KYC is to understand who our customers are, assess potential risks, and prevent illegal activities such as fraud, money laundering, and terrorist financing. It is a cornerstone of responsible gaming and financial compliance within the regulated online gambling industry.

When Verification Is Required

Verification is an ongoing process that may be triggered at several points during your relationship with Dragonia. Typically, initial verification is required upon registration or before your first withdrawal. However, we may request further documentation at any time, including but not limited to:

  • When your cumulative deposits or withdrawals reach a certain threshold.
  • If there are changes to your personal information.
  • If our automated systems flag unusual or suspicious activity on your account.
  • As part of periodic reviews mandated by our licensing authority.
  • To comply with new regulatory requirements.

Prompt cooperation with these requests helps ensure uninterrupted access to your Dragonia account.

Documents You May Be Asked to Provide

To complete our verification procedures, we may request various documents. These typically fall into categories such as proof of identity, proof of address, and proof of payment method. In some cases, we may also require documentation related to your source of funds. All documents must be clear, legible, and current. We will specify exactly which documents are needed when a verification request is made.

Proof of Identity

To confirm your identity, we generally require a copy of one of the following government-issued photographic identification documents:

  • Valid Passport (photo page)
  • Valid National Identity Card (front and back)
  • Valid Driving Licence (front and back)

The document must clearly show your full name, date of birth, photograph, signature, and the document's expiry date. It must not be expired.

Proof of Address

To verify your residential address, we typically require a recent document, usually issued within the last three months, showing your full name and current address. Acceptable documents include:

  • Utility bill (electricity, water, gas, landline phone, internet)
  • Bank statement or credit card statement
  • Government-issued tax document
  • Council tax bill

Mobile phone bills are generally not accepted. The document must be dated and clearly display your name and address matching the details registered on your Dragonia account.

Payment Method Verification

To ensure the security of financial transactions and prevent fraud, we may require verification of the payment methods used on your Dragonia account. The specific requirements depend on the method used:

  • Credit/Debit Cards: A copy of the front and back of the card. For security, please obscure the middle six digits of the card number on the front and the CVV/CVC code on the back. Your name, the first six and last four digits of the card number, and the expiry date must remain visible.
  • E-Wallets (e.g., Skrill, Neteller, PayPal): A screenshot of your e-wallet account page showing your name, email address, and account ID.
  • Bank Transfers: A copy of a bank statement or a screenshot of your online banking portal showing your name, account number, and bank logo.

All payment methods must be registered in your name.

Source of Funds and Enhanced Due Diligence

In certain circumstances, particularly for larger transactions or when our risk assessment indicates a need, Dragonia may be legally obligated to request information and documentation regarding your source of funds (SOF) or source of wealth (SOW). This is part of our enhanced due diligence procedures to comply with anti-money laundering regulations. Examples of SOF documentation may include:

  • Payslips or employment contracts
  • Bank statements showing accumulated savings
  • Documentation of property sale or inheritance
  • Company accounts or dividend statements

We understand that these requests are more intrusive, but they are essential for our regulatory compliance and to maintain a safe gaming environment. All information provided will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

The Verification Process and Timeframes

Once you submit your documents, our dedicated verification team will review them. We aim to process all verification requests as quickly as possible. Typically, reviews are completed within 24 to 72 hours, though this can vary depending on the volume of requests and the complexity of the verification. You will receive an email notification once your documents have been reviewed and your account status updated. If further information is needed, we will contact you directly.

Keeping Your Documents Safe

Dragonia employs robust security measures to protect your personal and financial information. All documents submitted for verification are handled with strict confidentiality and stored securely in compliance with data protection regulations, including GDPR. We use encryption and access controls to prevent unauthorised access. Your data will only be used for the purpose of identity verification and regulatory compliance, and will not be shared with third parties except where legally required by our licensing authority or other regulatory bodies.

Anti-Money Laundering Compliance

Dragonia is fully committed to preventing money laundering and the financing of terrorism. Our KYC and verification procedures are integral to our anti-money laundering (AML) framework. We continuously monitor transactions and account activity for suspicious patterns. Any activity that raises AML concerns will be investigated and, if necessary, reported to the relevant authorities as required by law. By adhering to these strict protocols, we contribute to the global effort against financial crime.

Age Verification and Protecting Minors

Underage gambling is strictly prohibited at Dragonia. A core purpose of our verification process is to confirm that all our players are at least 18 years old, or the legal gambling age in their jurisdiction, whichever is higher. We take this responsibility very seriously. Any account found to belong to a minor will be immediately closed, and any funds or winnings forfeited. We encourage parents and guardians to use filtering software to prevent minors from accessing gambling websites.

If Verification Is Delayed or Unsuccessful

If your verification is delayed, it may be due to unclear documents, missing information, or a high volume of requests. We will contact you if additional information is needed. If verification is unsuccessful, it could be for reasons such as mismatched details, expired documents, or a failure to provide the requested information within a reasonable timeframe. In such cases, your account may be subject to restrictions, including the inability to deposit, withdraw, or play. We will always communicate the reasons for unsuccessful verification and guide you on the steps to resolve any issues.
